Level 1
This seminar focuses on the stepwise process for developing a Ba Zi chart. Participants will become proficient in creating a person’s constitutional chart based on their date, time, and place of birth. We encourage you to come to class with the birth data of some of your patients, particularly those with challenging conditions. Note, however, that pathologies and treatments will not be discussed in this class.
Participants will need to memorize all Chinese characters required to conduct Ba Zi readings. The meaning and classical origin of each character will be explained and participants will learn how to properly write and pronounce each symbol.
Additionally, the Three Essentials will be defined and explained within the context of the 10 stems and 12 branches of a patient’s birth chart.

Level 2
In this next level, we will learn how to analyze shen levels by using the birth data of your patients. Participants will be taught the necessary tools for more profound analysis of personality traits, family relationships, and primary life flow. Please feel free to bring cases from your clinic, relatives, or friends to practice these important skills. The instructor will also demonstrate how to present an analysis to a patient or client.

Level 3
In this class, we will study more complex Ba Zi charts and learn to quickly, accurately, and reliably identify the main pattern of a person’s chart using simple rules. The class is based on a deeper understanding of Tian Gan (Heavenly Stems) and Di Zhi (Earthly Branches ) and outcomes of their interaction. This class is an ideal mix of theory and practical application; demonstrations will introduce how to start developing treatments based on Ba Zi.

Level 4
This module will focus on the detailed effects of postnatal Qi on a person’s chart. The class is based on a deeper understanding of how Ba Zi interacts with the three essentials of Earth (Feng Shui), Humans (inter-personal relationships) and Heaven (time). We will learn how to assess the relationships between a person’s chart and the three essentials, and illustrate how each of them can contribute to both health & disease. Advanced therapeutic strategies based on Ba Zi which incorporate Feng Shui, Herbs, Acupuncture, counseling and chronotherapy will be discussed.

This final seminar is reserved for dedicated students who have been practicing the Three Essentials in clinic. Extremely hands-on and requiring much interactivity, this coursework asks students to share their own successes and challenges in laying out birth charts and applying them in practice. Time allowing, this class will delve further into the role of environmental factors, interpersonal relationships, and customization of treatments based on Ba Zi readings.
